Barbara (DeFranco) Ferreira, 83, of Southborough, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham.
She was the daughter of the late Augustus and Christina (DelGaizo) DeFranco and predeceased by her sisters, Rose Mini and Regina Catano. For the past 59 years, she has been the adored wife of Angelo Ferreira. Barbara is survived by her sons, Paul Ferreira and his wife Paloma of Wayland, David Ferreira and his wife Stacey of North Reading, her daughters, Caroline Hanlon and her husband John of Marlborough, and Ellen Tobin and her husband Rich of Marlborough, her brother, Joseph DeFranco, and his wife Alice of Sudbury as well as 10 grandchildren who called her “Mimi”, one great grandchild and lots of nieces and nephews.
Barbara was happiest with her family around the table; she was skilled in the kitchen & proud of her Italian heritage; she made the best meatballs & braciole, and had the privilege of traveling with her husband throughout their marriage, visiting Italy on more than one occasion. She will be greatly missed but her traditions left an indelible impact on her children and will be honored for years to come.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 14, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 15 at 10:00 am at St. Matthew’s Church, 105 Southville Rd., Southborough, MA 01772. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High St., Canton, MA 02021.
