More fall sports brackets have been posted. It’s time for an update on Algonquin fall sports.
As I previously posted, Gonk Field Hockey will play in regional Quarter Finals this afternoon, 2:30 pm at New England Baseball Complex. We now know that they’ll be facing the Marlborough Panthers. The upperseed Gonk girls just beat them 3-0 last week.
ARHS Volleyball is entering its Division 1 regionals next week. The third seed team earned a Bye on the First Round. The girls will play in the Quarter Finals on Monday, November 4th at 6:00 pm. They’ll hold the home court against either 6th seed Franklin or 11th seed Doherty.
If they win, they’ll move on to Semi-Finals on Wednesday. Odds are, they’d be up against undefeated Hopkinton, one of the two upper seed teams that beat Gonk earlier this season.
The last regular season game for T-Hawks Football is 7:00 pm tonight at Leominster. For the boys to make the playoffs starting next Friday, this weekend’s results would have to move them up one notch in their power rating. (As of this week, the Telegram shows them ranked 5th for Division 3.)
I have to insert a shout out to our voc/tech school here. Assabet Valley’s Aztecs Football is undefeated this season.
According to the Telegram, the team will be battling Valley Tech this afternoon to break a 3rd place tie in the Division Central power ratings. You can read more here.
Now back to Algonquin. . .
ARHS Girls Soccer finally lost its “undefeated” mantle. The Girls and Boys teams lost their final regular season matches against Wachusetts Regional on Tuesday. Still both remain at the top of the Central Ma Division 1 Soccer rankings (according to MaxPreps). Stay tuned for those brackets.
Cross Country teams will compete in their district regionals a week from tomorrow – Saturday, November 9th at the Gardner Municipal Golf Course. The Boys are scheduled for 1:00 pm and the Girls for 2:20 pm.
The following day, Cheerleading will head to Wachusett Regional for the League Championship.
