In one month, a big band will play in Southborough for the benefit of some worthy causes. The band Point n’ Swing will perform at St. Mark’s School. Proceeds from tickets sale will go to Abby’s House and The CASA project.
The concert will take place on Sunday, December 22nd from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. For those unfamiliar with the Point n’ Swing, it’s a local 18 person Big Band ensemble which includes a couple of Southborough residents.
Band member and resident Doc D’Errico shared:
The music will range from the 1930’s beginning of the Jump Swing era to current day arrangements – holiday music to be sure, but also some very recognizable “standards” and crowd favorites. . . The entire regular ensemble will be donating their regular fee back to the great charities that we hope will benefit by 100% of the proceeds from this event.
But this is also about the community and while we know that not everyone has the means, special accommodation can be made for groups, seniors, or families by contacting Mike Fields . . . As I noted on my facebook page, we’d rather see smiling faces in seats than on dollar bills.

The concert will take place in St. Mark’s Putnam Family Arts Center. (Click here for a campus map.)
The charitable causes the benefit supports are both based in Worcester County:
- Abby’s House is a shelter for homeless, battered and low-income women, with or without children.
- The CASA Project provides Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children.
