If you have a child you expect to enter Southborough Kindergarten in the fall, registration is coming up next week. Residents with eligible children should have received their packets already. Eligible children are those who turn five by August 31, 2020.
Registration will take place at Finn School on Thursday, January 16, 8:00 am – 2:30 pm. (That’s Mary Finn School at 60 Richards Road.)

Parents/guardians who need translation help filling out the forms should contact the school prior to next Thursday.
The letter notes that children aren’t expected to come on registration day. It also outlines the screening process for prospective students scheduled for April:
Kindergarten Screening is mandated by the state and requires that all children be screened for possible special needs prior to October 31st of their kindergarten year. The screening is not used to determine readiness for admission to school. Kindergarten Screening will take place on April 29th and April 30th, 2020, between 9:00am and 12:00pm. You will have an opportunity to sign up during Kindergarten registration for an hour time slot. Please check your calendar, as these are the only two dates put aside for screening in the spring. Any student who is not able to attend will be screened in the fall prior to October 31st. The screening is a brief check of your child’s functioning in the areas of:
Personal and Social Development
Speech and Language Skills
Small and Gross Muscle Control
Eye-Hand CoordinationIf you have a concern about your child and/or would like the opportunity to share medical or developmental history with our school nurse, counselor or special educator, please call the school prior to registration to let us know.
