The sundown-to-sundown National Day of Unplugging is today. Southborough Youth and Family Services is asking our community to participate.
The event is today, Friday, March 6th through Saturday, March 7th
Power down your devices and reconnect with your world. Play board games, make dinner plans with friends, do arts and crafts, make time to play outside!
The Town agency posted more ideas for what we can do with our screenless time. (Yes, they acknowledge the irony that they are sharing ideas online here and through Twitter and Facebook!)
The forecast for tomorrow is fortunately a good one. So you might want to follow idea #3 and head outdoors.
Here is what they posted:
I touched base with the Library, and they will be supporting the initiative. Tomorrow, you can enjoy a game day at the Library. Staff will be putting out some of the Library’s board games so patrons can drop-in and play that day.
If you don’t want to hang out at the Library, they have plenty of other resources to help with the above ideas and more:
- Discount passes to museum, zoos and parks (Act quickly to reserve the Library’s newest offerings – the Trustees of Reservation’s GO Pass or the returning Springield Museums pass – including the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss.)
- Books for reading alone or aloud
- Circulating jigsaw puzzles (Southborough offers both simple 100 piece sets and challenging 1,000 piece sets)
- How-to books to help you tackle a new craft, project, or hobby (like knitting)
- Cookbooks so you can try out new recipes
- Card game instruction books to learn new multi-player or solitaire games
