Here are highlights of what’s happening around town this week.
[Editor’s Note: Three programs I originally posted were coincidentally postponed for different reasons: Selectmen’s hours, Family Math Night, and Hands on Nature Bird Beaks.]
[Editor’s Note: Make that four. Putting for Patients is now out. Given fears around the Coronavirus, I won’t be surprised if other events get cancelled as the week goes on. So check back!]
[Editor’s Note: Make that six! But I also added two new ones. The Senior Center’s Matinee and Trottier’s concert are now also indefinitely postponed. There are two events at the Library this Saturday that I initially missed that I’m adding in. But, before heading to those or any other events, I’d double check later this week that they’re still on.]
[Editor’s Note: Make that seven! But I also added one more new one. The Senior Center’s Exciting Women’s Club meeting is cancelled for March. Meanwhile, a new chess program launches this Friday at the Library.]
[Editor’s Note: Finally, everything that was still scheduled for Friday through the weekend has officially been cancelled.]
[Note: The highlights don’t include ongoing weekly programs. For those listings and more, check the Event Calendar.]

Updated (3/9/2020 5:29 pm): The Hands on Nature program was cancelled due to low attendance. The Library will try to re-book something later this spring.
Updated (3/9/2020 5:51 pm): I learned that the District has indefinitely postponed Family Math Night:
Due to the current COVID-19 virus status, the District is evaluating all non-essential events being hosted by the District. This evaluation will be done on a weekly basis or as new information evolves. As a result of the present evaluation, the District is postponing the Family Math Night scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2020.
The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community are our highest priority. If you have any questions, please reach out to the building principal or Mary Ellen Duggan, District Wellness Coordinator.
Updated (3/9/2020 6:04 pm): Also for fears around the Coronovirus, Putting for Patients is being postponed:
For anyone intending to attend the Jimmy Fund Putting for Patients event on March 14th at Algonquin Regional High School, sadly the event has been postponed to a not yet determined date. This is in order to minimize any possible risk with COVID-19. We hope to see you in the future to support this great cause!
Updated (3/10/2020 8:09 am): Trottier is postponing its chorus concert and the Senior Matinee for Knives Out is cancelled. Meanwhile, I had missed two events at the Library on Saturday: Reading with a dog and Learning to Knit.
Updated (3/10/20 2:07 pm): The Senior Center’s website clarified that their current policy is to cancel programs with over 20 attendees and added Exciting Women to the list of cancelled programs.
Updated (3/12/20 4:41 pm): All Library events for Friday through next week and the AVM concert for this weekend have been announced as cancelled.
