Public and private schools will need to utilize remote learning through the end of this school year. For those who haven’t kept track, Southborough (and Northborough) public schools’ last day will be June 16th.
The announcement was made by the Governor during his briefing this afternoon:
Today we extended the closure of K-12 schools and non-emergency childcare programs through the end of the school year.
Remote learning will continue and @MASchoolsK12 is taking additional steps to boost remote learning to ensure we’re doing everything we can to support students.
As I post this, the briefing is still taking place. You can watch live here.
As I shared last week, the administration for Algonquin Regional High School has been planning for the possibility. They have been thinking about ways to try to provide students with special experiences they expect in the spring. You can read more about that here.
What will become of the non teaching jobs, such as bus drivers, cafeteria and janitorial workers?
Decisions by the school committees were made based on possibility of May 4th return. At the time, they said that choices could be reevaluated if that changed.
