The Historical Commission has announced a program to recognize preserved properties. The initiative follows up on the commission’s Historic House Sign program that was launched six years ago. This year, the Commision is seeking nominations of restored or maintained historic homes, businesses, or “other structures” that deserve recognition.
Here are the details:
The Southborough Historical Commission is pleased to announce the Historic Preservation Recognition Program! We would like to GIFT up to 10 of our Historic Signs to deserving properties in Southborough that have been restored or maintained in a way that promotes the historical character of our Town. We believe the Historic Signs enhance the appearance of older properties while promoting community awareness of our local history. In addition, the Historic Preservation Recognition Program supports a local Artisan who hand paints each sign.
This Program will recognize up to ten Historic Properties during 2020, and homes, businesses, or other structures are eligible. In order to qualify, the property must have been built prior to World War II, and demonstrate a restored or well-maintained exterior.
If you are interested in being nominated (or would like to nominate another property), please email: kbattles@southboroughma.com with the address of the property, the date it was built, an exterior photo of the property, and your main reason(s) for nominating it. We look forward to hearing from you!
