Thanksgiving Food Drive for families with children and adults with developmental disabilities

A local non-profit is holding a food drive to support some of their member families in need. The collection is taking this place this week.

Thrive Support and Advocacy “empowers children and adults with developmental disabilities to lead rich, active and self-directed lives”. The collection drive is to “support families in the Thrive community who need additional assistance during this particularly challenging holiday season.”

According to an organization rep, members served include 30 families in Southborough. (It’s overall reach is 500 individuals and families in 46 Massachusetts communities.)

The drive runs today through Thursday. The drop-off site is in Marlborough or you can donate online:

Many families have been hit hard by the pandemic. In the spirit of the season, Thrive is holding a Thanksgiving Food Drive for several families in the Thrive community who need a little extra help this holiday. The plan is to assemble Thanksgiving boxes with all the fixings for the holiday meal. Here’s how it works:

  1. Sign up to donate an item or two (or more!) with the SignUp Genius button below.
  2. During the week of November 16-19, drop off your item at the drop box outside of Thrive’s headquarters at 65 Boston Post Road West, Suite 220, Marlborough. Need an alternative for drop off? Email Lorrie at lmarcoulier@icanthrive.org or call 508-485-4227 x1113.
  3. Once all items are collected, boxes will be assembled and delivered.

If you would like to help with a monetary the donation click here or the button below. Monetary donations will be used to purchase food items or where needed most in the organization.

For those of you wondering about supporting the Southborough Food Pantry – their Thanksgiving drive wrapped up over the weekend. (Under their Covid Guidelines, items need to be quarantined before they are sorted and given out to clients. So, the pantry was asking for Thanksgiving related donations to come in by last weekend.)

You can check out their Facebook page to see their thanks to Boy Scout Troop 92 and other community members who held recent collection drives. Plus, you can always check there to see their latest ongoing food/items needs beyond Thanksgiving.
