Recently, Middlesex Savings Bank announced that it is contributing $10,000 more to the Southborough Food Pantry. This summer, the bank already gifted $5,000. It brings their total contributions to the pantry in the last few years to $35,000.*
Each year, the bank donates generously to organizations in each of the towns where they do business.* Organizations are selected in keeping with a theme for the year. In February of this year, the bank donated $20,000 to the Southborough Police & Fire Departments. The next month, prompted by the national crisis, the bank created an additional fund —$1,000,000 for COVID-19 Relief.
The COVID-19 Relief Fund was established to aid local non-profit organizations. The first gift was $100,000 to the MetroWest Emergency Relief Fund which would distribute money to area non-profits over the next few months as need was determined. In the next two “waves” of funding, the bank donated $330,000 to 41 local organizations, including the Southborough Food Pantry.
The Pantry is now also one of 33 organizations benefiting from the additional $330K being granted in the 4th wave. (All but three of those are organizations that received help in the third round.)
*In 2019, the bank donated $20K to the Food Pantry as part of $50K donated to charitable organizations in Southborough including the Friends of the Southborough Library and the Friends of the Council on Aging. In 2018, The Southborough Education Foundation received $50,000.
