The Town is renewing its Rent/Mortgage Assistance program. This week, the Town announced a new round of funding available for to help financially strapped residents pay rent/mortgage. It applies to current payment needs or payments past due since 3/1/2020 through 12/1/2021.
Funds can be used for up to six months rental or mortgage assistance. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis through December 1st.
Other details appear to be the same as the initial round.
The program is open to households (including individuals) residing in Southborough for at least six months. To be eligible, your income must have been reduced by the pandemic (and you can’t already be receiving government-funded rental assistance).
There are household income limits based on earning less than 80% of the Area Median Income, adjusted for family size. Payments are capped based on the dwelling size. The funds can’t be used on mortgage escrow or homeowner’s insurance.
The intent is for the funds given out by the Town to be reimbursed by the federal government through the CARES Act.
