For families looking for a more flexible schedule this summer than weekly camps, Southborough Extended Day has a “Summer Fun Club” that is worth checking out.

As with many camps, they’ve had to eliminate the field trips from this summer’s plans. But they are still offering the normal on-site activities (at Neary School) each week.

You can sign up kids for a four-day week of full day camp (8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Mon-Thurs).* But you can also pick and choose specific days based on your schedule. Plus, you can pay for early drop off and/or late pick up.

Registration is offered for kids entering Kindergarten – 6th grade. The program runs from June 21st to August 19th.

This year’s fun includes:

  • BBQ’s every Tuesday
  • Theme Days every Thursday
  • Nature activities
  • Team Building games

Outdoors, campers can ride bikes, splash in the pools and sprinklers, play sports, or use the playground. Traditionally, inside the Neary Cafeteria campers can choose between the art center, game area, gym, or our comfortable relaxation zone. However, this year, they will seek to hold most of the activities outdoors (where masks aren’t needed.)

(All Covid-19 protocols will be followed including requiring masks indoors unless eating.)

Campers are split in three age groups:

K-1 are the Rookies, Grades 2-3 are the Masters and grades 4-7 are the Legends. The campers rotate between a variety of activities. Arts and Crafts, Sports and Games, and Workshops. Workshops offer the campers a wide variety of choices like Stem/Steam activities, specialized sports and games, fine arts, Nature and much more.

Rookies and Masters enjoy daily water fun while the legends have some independence to work individually on projects, hanging out with friends, creating memories and making choices on how they want to spend part of their day.

The most popular week is their last one (#9), featuring a theme a day, including their popular Color War, Banana Olympics, and Ninja Training Day.

Campers will be supervised by Extended Day’s experienced staff with favorites from each of the three after school programs.

The cost starts at $75 per day with $50 off for signing up for more than 15 days. (One discount per family.) If you sign up siblings for comparable days, take off 5%  for the family discount.

*For cleaning, the school’s custodians need one day per week without the campers. In past years, the program had a field trip each week, but Covid Safety prevented that this summer.
