Southborough’s Board of Health is about to have a vacancy. The Town is seeking candidates to fill the slot, until the Town’s election in May.
After 11 years of service on the board, Mary Lou Woodford needs to step down. Woodford is moving out of town, making her ineligible to continue. She will resign effective, August 30th.
If you haven’t been following the BOH closely, you may not realize the breadth of their responsibilities.
Southborough’s 2020 Annual Report included a two page summary from the Board. In addition to recapping work that year, it included a list of the many oversight responsibilities the BOH has. They range from Communicable Disease Surveillance to Waste Disposal. You can read that here.

Due to relocation, Mary Lou Woodford will be resigning from the Southborough Board of Health, effective August 30, 2021.
Since this is an elected position, Massachusetts General Law requires that the Board of Health and the Board of Selectmen hold a joint meeting to select a Southborough registered voter to fulfill the remainder of Mary Lou’s term which will expire on May 10, 2022.
