[The Boston Marathon always includes a pack of runners from our town. While this year, the number allowed on the course is limited, Southborough still has a strong showing.
Between now and Monday, I’m featuring stories of residents donning bibs for a cause.]
Southborough’s Patrick Moran is running in the special fall Boston Marathon as part of the Green Runs Deep team. The team is a fundraising group for the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation.
On Moran’s fundraising page, he asks for support for the foundation doing work “for a cause that’s very close to my heart”. The foundation’s profile touts:
The mission of the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation is to extend the reach of the Celtics championship legacy into our community through programs that directly benefit children in need. To do this, the Foundation applies a team mentality – much like that of the 17-time world championship Celtics – and relies on key partnerships with New England-based non-profit organizations that provide vital services and support to youth.
