Covid Booster Clinic for ages 18+ on December 22nd

Moderna vaccine boosters are available at a special Southborough clinic next week.

Southborough’s Board of Health is offering a Covid Vaccine Booster Clinic next week, featuring the Moderna vaccine. That vaccine is only approved for use in ages 18+.

The clinic is the afternoon of Wednesday, December 22nd. There are currently slots remaining. (They could go quickly, so take advantage now if you are looking to get a shot before the holidays.)

The Moderna vaccine is for ages 18+. It is available as a booster for those who received the J&J shot at least 2 months prior or completed the 2-shot Pfizer/Moderna vaccinations at least 6 months prior.*

If you are unsure if you qualify or have a question concerning vaccines and boosters, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Southborough Health Department at 508-281-8983.

Last week, the CDC approved boosters for ages 16+, but only the Pfizer vaccine. You can look for appointments here, but they are difficult to find anywhere soon or close by. The Public Health Department is hoping to be able to put on a local clinic if they can coordinate enough staffing for it. (If that does happen, they will alert me, and I will alert readers.)

*The online system wouldn’t allow appointments for completely unvaccinated individuals at this time. (I presume that is because the dosage for the primary series is higher than the booster.) However, it was allowing those who previously received only one dose of Moderna to schedule an appointment. If you began your primary series months ago, but never completed it, you may want to reach out to the health dept directly to make sure you take the correct steps to get the right dose.
