Southborough Rec is offering sports camps and clinics some weeks this summer as alternatives to the regular day camp.
Yesterday, I posted news on Southborough Rec’s 7 week Summer Camp. What I didn’t share were details on the other sports camps offered certain weeks this summer.
Worth noting – these are conveniently offered on weeks that the full day Summer Camp is already fully booked for or not offered.*
Below are details on five special offerings:
- BEST Soccer Camp (options for 3-14 yr olds)
- Ultimate Sports and Games (ages 7-12)
- Full – Viking’s Ninja Warrior Camp (ages 5-12)***
- Summer Field Hockey Clinic (5th – 12th graders)
BEST Soccer Summer Programs
July 11-15 and/or August 1-5 @ Neary School
- First KIX: Ages 3-5, 9:00 to 9:45 am – $100
- Half Day: Ages 5-14, 9:00 to 12:00pm – $170
- Full Day: Ages 7-14, 9:00 to 3:00pm – $275
BEST Soccer will focus on a different technical topic each day. Players will learn the importance of a good warm up through fun games and activities. Coaches will develop the basic foot skills, passing and shooting through structured games with each player actively involved. Players will also learn the basics of soccer match play via 3×3 tournaments focusing on positions, communication and interest in soccer while still having lots of fun!
What to bring? Plenty of water, shin guards, sneakers or cleats and a nut free snack (and nut free lunch if participating in a full day). (Click here to register)

Ultimate Sports and Games Summer Program
August 1-5, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm @ Fayville Park
For ages 7-12 – $130
Are you are getting tired of playing the same old sports every day? This is the program for you! The non-traditional style of games/ competitions will keep all participants on their toes learning new games as they get further into this program.
Have you ever heard of Fort Knox? Or Ultimate Frisbee? What about Army Dodgeball? Get together with F.A.S.T. Athletics and see what all the hype is about!!! This unique program will also put emphasis on physical fitness, proper stretching techniques and teamwork. (Click here to register)
Full – Viking Sports Ninja Warrior Week***
July 18-22, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm @ Trottier Middle School Track and Field
For ages 5-12 – $240. Participants receive a t-shirt and trophy.
Viking’s Ninja Warrior might be the best thing since sliced bread. It’s the perfect blend of fitness competition and fun that keeps everyone engaged. Viking has created a variety of Ninja Warrior obstacles geared around agility strength and balance. When put together they make a diverse Ninja Warrior course that kids love to go through. Athletes will find themselves leaping from the ascending plyo boxes bounding between quintuple steps and even scaling the wall located in our ENORMOUS obstacle bounce house!

Summer Field Hockey (4 day clinics)
June 27-30*, July 11-14, and/or August 15-18, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm @ 911 Memorial Field
For Grades 5-12 – $275/session
Our Field Hockey Clinics this summer focus on skills, drills, game tactics and lots of fun! Players will learn in a safe and fun environment where coaches will share their expertise in the sport of field hockey.

*For the Field Hockey Clinic, there was still room in the full day camps this morning for the week overlapping the June 27th session. For all of the other above offerings, there were no full day options left those weeks in the Summer Camp at Woodward. (The half day program for 3-6 year olds still had openings each week.)
Updated (3/22/22 11:25 am): Rec’s website states that the originally listed Field Hockey pricing was wrong:
Error on pricing, in the brochure we mentioned $180 but we ended up having our numbers wrong. The actual price is $275.
***Updated (6/21/22 4:07 pm): The Ninja Warrior camp is full with a waitlist.
