Back in January, the School Committee approved the NSBORO administration forming a partnership with Southborough Extended Day Program for Southborough before and after school programs. At that time, the administration hoped to issue a joint communication with SEDP within days.
It appears that working out some details must have taken more time than expected. The first official joint communication was issued today from NSBORO and SEDP. It came with an updated timeline. Though, it appears that timeline is already a little out of date. (Hiring a Director was a task to be completed by yesterday. But the message indicates that is still in process.)
For those eager to start making plans for summer camp, you’ll want to note that registration is scheduled to open on February 28th.
It also comes with a promise to continue to keep parents informed.
Here is the full announcement from Assistant Superintendent of Operations Keith Lavoie, co-signed by Superintendent Gregory Martineau and SEDP President Katie Karmelak:
On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, the Southborough School Committee voted to approve the Superintendent’s recommendation to bring a before and after-school care program under the jurisdiction of the Public Schools of Southborough. At the core of the recommendation is the commitment to partner with the Southborough Extended Day Program (SEDP) to collaborate on the design and development of programming for students and families. The District and Southborough Extended Day Program are committed to a seamless transition.
The partnership will merge the strengths of the two organizations and create a lasting and comprehensive program. Both organizations are excited to start the transition process with the goal of providing services without interruption. We have already started the hiring process for a program director. The search committee is composed of members of the SEDP Board coupled with school district administrators to recommend a person for hire to the superintendent. This is a critical step to codify the newly enhanced partnership. Additionally, to maintain that continuity the District will be using the Southborough Extended Day (SEDP) name and logo for its purposes. To help understand the transition process a timeline of the anticipated steps are detailed below.
As the Assistant Superintendent of Operations, I will oversee the operation of the District Program. The District will be responsible for personnel, financial, regulatory responsibilities, and will partner with SEDP on programming. I will work closely with the SEDP Board on matters related to the student, family experience and leadership staffing.
This is the first in a series of communications that will come about this topic as we navigate through the transition process. Should you have any questions about the future of the program, please feel free to reach out to me.

When is Wednesday’s school committee meeting going to be uploaded in you tube? Would have thought it would be available to watch by now.
