Two Gonk Wrestlers took part the All State Championships. Timothy Goddard and Rafael Knapp came in 3rd for their weight classes. They’ll be heading to the New England Championship tournament this Friday in Providence. For event details click here.
The Titans will also be sending a member of the Boys Indoor Track team to New England Championships this week. Brogan Madden tied for 2nd place in the High Jump at the the All States Meet of Champions on Saturday. Priscilla De Carvalho came in 7th for the Girls. (See pics below tweeted by MIAA.)
Tomorrow, ARHS Ski will compete at the Alpine Ski State Championship at Wachusetts.
Four other teams ended their journeys over break, while three teams are entering state tourneys.
ARHS Boys & Girls Swimmers competed at D1 Championships. According to ARHS Athletics, the Boys 200 Freestyle Relay swimmers (Axel Soderquist, Rob Hurley, Greg Roumiantsev, and Coleman Hostage) beat the school’s record.
ARHS Cheer placed third at their Mid Wach League Championships. At the Shephard Hill Invitational on Saturday, they came in 4th.
The MIAA State Brackets recently posted didn’t include Algonquin Boys Basketball.
ARHS Girls Basketball will be playing as underdogs in the D1 championships Round of 32. That game will take place at 6:30 pm on Friday night, March 4th. The #23 ranked ARHS Girls will travel to Brookline to take on their #10 team.
The reverse is true for Girls Ice Hockey, where #10 ARHS will play #23 Matignon in their Round of 32 game. That’s Thursday, March 3rd, 8:30 pm at New England Sports Center.
The Boys appear to be more evenly matched. In their Round of 32 game, #17 ARHS will be playing #16 Longmeadow. That’s Thursday, March 3rd, 6:50 pm in West Springfield.
