The New England Rugby Club is recruiting Southborough K-8 players for spring. The season runs April 28th – June 5th.
For those of you whose past experience is with Southborough’s Eagles Rugby program, NERC took that under its wing last fall. That means that instead of a Southborough program, it is a regional program based out of Hopkinton.
Though the 7-8th grade team will keep the Eagles name, the full K-8 program is registered through NERC, and even that team will be a regional mix of players.
The program will continue to act as a “feeder” to the high school teams at Algonquin and other local high schools.
NERC is a Co-Ed Youth Rugby Organization which specializes in Rookie and Youth Rugby. . .
We focus on the developmental approach of Rugby to all who wish to partake in the sport. We believe in setting up rugby players to be successful on and off the pitch by instilling the core values of commitment, community, and compassion.
The spring training is two sessions per week plus an optional scrimmage. There will be local games and tournaments, with NERC hosting a “spring jamboree” on May 21. A summer training session will follow with additional jamborees and the Bay State Games.
The Spring Program is split into the following divisions:
- Grades K-2 – Little Ruggers ($149)
- 1 hour trainings on Sundays 6:00 – 7:00 pm
- Grades 3-6 Flag ($260)
- 1.5 hour trainings on Thursdays and Sundays 6-7:30
- Grades 7-8 Tackle ($260)
- 1.5 hour trainings on Thursdays and Sundays 6-7:30
Each program offers:
- 1 hour weekly optional scrimmage on Fridays 6-7:30
- Spring games when available
- 1 spring tournament (at an additional cost)
Practice and play is taking place at Cornells Field, 229 Hayden Rowe Street, Hopkinton.
