The public is invited to a concert on Tuesday evening, March 29th, in the Algonquin auditorium. The “MICCA Showcase” will feature performances by the high school’s instrumental and choral ensembles.
Students are preparing for the annual MICCA (Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association) competition next weekend. According to the Community Advocate, the choir groups got some special assistance with that last week.
CA writes:
Oftentimes, a fresh perspective can help see new things.
Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS) choirs got that fresh perspective last week thanks to the help of Boston Symphony Orchestra Choral Director James Burton.
Burton is also the director of orchestral activities at Boston University of Fine Arts School of Music.
“It’s wonderful that they approach their singing with such enthusiasm,” Burton told the Community Advocate. “They’ve been incredibly responsive today to my instruction and bringing some new ideas to them.”

General admission is $5/adult and $3/student/senior citizen. However, it’s free to members of Northboro Southboro Music Association. (And NSMA is inviting Trottier and Melican 8th grade musicians and guardians to attend for free.)
NSMA announced a special bonus for attending the concert. It’s where they’ll be opening up sales for the popular end-of-the-year Pops Night.
Pops Night celebrates all of the schools’ musical groups and is NSMA’s biggest annual fundraiser. It’s the first time they’ve been able to hold it since 2019. You can find more details here.
