For readers who missed the news I shared a couple of weeks ago, Southborough Kindergroup’s Easter Egg Hunt will make it’s big return a week from Saturday.
The event is one of our community’s fun traditions that was put on hold during the pandemic. (Although, alternative “Greet the Bunny” and scavenger hunts were offered in its place.)
The traditional hunt is back. The fun is planned for Saturday, April 9th (with an April 16th rain date.)
[Editor’s Note: The event is officially postponed to the 16th.]
But there is a change of venue. Instead of the Community House lawn, participants will “spread out” on St. Mark’s Field across the street.
Festivities will begin at 11:00 am with the chance to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. (Bring your own camera.)
The “hunt” begins at 11:30 am. (Bring your own basket to collect kids’ bounty.)
The littlest ones toddle around to pick up nearby “eggs” with candy inside. Some of the older kids will be focused on racing to fill their baskets, while others will be carefully searching for one of the three “Golden Eggs”. Golden Egg winners receive a prize basket.
Adding to this year’s fun, organizers are bringing in food trucks (Anzio’s Brick Oven Pizza and Trombetta’s ice cream).
The event is again free and no registration is necessary. Instead, Kindergroup is encouraging participating families to bring items to donate to the Food Pantry.

Kindergroup asked me to share:
We would not be able to hold this event each year without our sponsor, Middlesex Savings Bank, and the Southborough Fire Department who are generously volunteering their time, so we would like to say thank you to them!
It’s worth noting that Algonquin’s Honor Society is holding a free egg hunt the same morning. It’s for Northborough and Southborough infants through 5th graders.
That one takes place at 10:00 am on the ARHS Football field. It also asks for pantry donations as the price for admissions. (I presume those will go to the Northborough Food Pantry.) Requested donations include: cash, coffee, peanut butter, honey, Oreos, Capri Suns, boxed milk, rice, tuna, grocery store gift cards and more.
Sign up is requested for the Algonquin event here.
Updated (4/8/22 2:11 pm): The Kindergroup event is officially postponed to its rain date – April 16th. Also, it appears that registration for the ARHS NHS event has closed. I couldn’t find any information on whether or not it is being postponed due to the forecast.
