The Southborough Gardeners has announced that it won’t be holding its pre-Mother’s Day sale this year.

(You can still shop for gifts at the Community House the day before Mother’s Day – just not plants. And you can shop for plants at the Community House – just not before Mother’s Day.)

In celebration of “50 Years in Bloom”,* the Gardeners will be holding a special Flower Show & Plant Sale later this spring

Save the date for Saturday, May 21st from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm.

The show and sale will be at the Community House, 28 Main Street.

The Gardeners will be selling “a beautiful selection of locally grown perennials and annuals”. But the main attraction is “A feast for the eyes with over 30 arrangements” made by members of the club.

The special arrangements will be raffled off to attendees at the end of the event.

I’m looking forward to seeing what arrangements the Gardeners come up with. Over the years, special Art in Bloom and Books in Bloom exhibits have highlighted members’ creativity. Members have also taken turns contributing lovely arrangements to brighten up the Library.

*1972 was apparently a busy year for civic minded area residents. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the Northborough, and Westborough community choruses, plus the Friends of the Southborough Library.
