Both the Southborough Library and its Friends* are calling for special donations. So, I’m combining the news in one post.
Book Donations
The Friends of the Southborough Library are seeking book donations to prepare for the annual Summer Book Sale in June. If you’re stumbling over books in your house during spring cleaning – sweep them over our way.
For safety and capacity reasons, there was a hold on accepting donations in 2020 and most of 2021. Now our stock is low.
Books can be dropped off at the Library during regular hours. Below are some guidelines from the Library:
Please leave the donations downstairs under ‘Free Book Bag table’ and let a staff member know when you leave donated books/materials.
- Do not donate in either of the two outdoor Book Drops. Only donate when library is open.
- No magazines, textbooks, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and VHS tapes.
- Books, DVDs, and CDs must be in good, usable condition.
Please see Ryan Donovan or Kim Ivers if you need written acknowledgement of your donation.
Proceeds from the Book Sale (June 11th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm) will benefit the Friends’ work to support Library resources and programs.
Seeking Teen Artwork from ages 12+
To decorate the Teen Room for the Summer, the Library is seeking donations. It looks like this call is for 2D art, since the contributions will be posted to bulletin boards.
The theme should be in keeping with Summer Reading’s “Beyond the Beaten Path”, encouraging enjoying the outdoors. Donations should be submitted by June 17th.
For more details, email Marianna Sorensen at msorensen@southboroughma.com.
*Full Disclosure, I’m President of the Friends of the Southborough Library.
A question on book donations: Do they only accept hardcover books or are paperbacks in good condition also wanted?
We definitely want both. Thanks for checking.
