Summer Outdoor Concert & Movie Series – Wednesday nights (Updated)

It’s time to save the dates for this summer’s concert and movie series. The outdoor fun is put on by Southborough Recreation.

Thanks to an alternating schedule, there’s free entertainment offered each Wednesday evening from June 29th – August 17th. Both series take place on fields at Neary School, 53 Parkerville Road.

The concert series launches a week from tonight. Concerts are on the outdoor stage by the tennis courts from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

Concert goers are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs and enjoy a picnic. Bring your own dinner or purchase one from that night’s food truck.

Friends of Southborough Recreation shared the great news that they are sponsoring lawn games to help keep kids entertained at the concerts while parents kick back. Examples were “jumbo Connect4, jumbo soccer balls, corn hole and more.”

Summer Concert Series flyerHere’s the lineup:

  • June 29 – Hit the Bus (Food sold by Potato Potato)

  • August 10th – Paxton Crossing (Food sold by Sabrosa)

On the alternate weeks, movies will be on the big screen at Depietri Field in front of the school’s parking lot. An ice cream truck will add to the festivities.

Movie Series flyerThe approx screening time is 8:00 pm. As usual, the movie lineup is clearly aimed at families with young kids:

  • July 6 – Encanto
  • July 20 – Lilo & Stitch

These FREE events are so much fun. Do not miss the chance to get out and enjoy these. There are also lawn games for the kids such as jumbo Connect4, jumbo soccer balls, corn hole and more sponsored by the Friends of Southborough Recreation. This is a great way to see your friends and neighbors and kick back, relax and have a bite to eat from the food trucks while the kids run and play. Bring your chairs, blankets and bug spray!

Sorry the lawn games are usually only at the concerts. The movie is entertainment enough and there usually isn’t time once people arrive to get settled, and get ice cream to play games.
