In December of 2019, Southborough Historical Society launched a successful fundraiser – the Southborough Holiday House Tour.
They hoped to make it an annual tradition. Covid put a crimp on that for for the following two Christmas seasons. Now they are getting ready to give it another go and looking for volunteers interested in being part of the effort.
At this stage, their focus is on homeowners willing to show of their fabulous holiday decor.
They asked me to share their call for volunteers:
Interested in sharing your home with the community this holiday season? Not only will all proceeds raised from the tour go directly to the Southborough Historical Society, sharing your home and unique style will get us all in the holiday spirit! Big houses, petite houses, historic homes and modern contemporaries – tour goers would love to visit and enjoy your holiday decor.
All of the proceeds will go to the Southborough Historical Society. If you are interested in having your home involved or want to learn more, please email pb.fiore@southboroughhistory.org. Organizers will be holding a planning meeting on September 28th, so it would be helpful to reach out in advance.
(Down the line, they will also be seeking volunteers to help on the day of the event.)
The 2019 event showing off “some of Southborough’s finest homes, decorated for the holiday season” was so popular, tickets sold out a couple weeks in advance.

The images include glimpses of decked halls, festive Christmas trees in a variety of styles, centerpieces, fabulous small touches, gift ideas, and historic houses trimmed with greens instead of lights.
Last year, SHS began dipping their toes in the water about planning, but ultimately decided to wait one more year. Now they are forging ahead with plans for a tour this winter.
