Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

In advance of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Brunch Bunch will be walking again for the American Cancer Society

Southborough members of the Brunch Bunch asked me to share that they are again Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and seeking support for their fundraising walk.

In 2020 & 2021 I shared news of the bunch, with includes residents Lynne McKay and Deb Dufault. They were working to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser.

On September 25th, Lynne McKay and Deb Dufault, with their team, will again don their walking shoes and fun attire for the annual fundraiser. Dufalt will be making strides for her 13th year. For McKay it’s her 25th year!

The team is again looking for support from the Southborough community. Here are excerpts from their announcement:

Brunch Bunch (contributed)October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and it is more important than ever to support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. . .

Lynne and Deb and their team are passionate about raising funds for the American Cancer Society for the services and the research funding they provide. ACS funds young, brilliant researchers who are not established so cannot get government funding. The research done on breast cancer will also impact other types of cancer. ACS currently has $71 million in grants for breast cancer research. To know that the money they raise will not only help with breast cancer discoveries, but with other cancers as well, is truly motivating.

In addition to funding cancer research, the money raised allows the American Cancer Society to provide important services from a cancer hotline to informational booklets to rides to treatment to catalogs of hats and wigs. The American Cancer Society has people available to answer questions 24 hours a day every day of the year. They want to ensure that no one walks alone in their breast cancer journey. If you or someone you know has been touched by cancer, you know how important these services are to those going through treatment.

Our support for the American Cancer Society matters now more than ever – patients, caregivers, survivors, and the future generations all depend on it.

If you would like to support the Brunch Bunch for Making Strides, please donate to Lynne or Deb
