Last week, was another tough one for Algonquin Football, but an improvement for ARHS varsity sports overall.
Titans Cross Country teams held their first meets on Wednesday before to the Ocean State Invitational Tournament over the weekend.
The ARHS Boys beat Shepherd Hill 24 – 50, with the five fastest times led by Joe Lamburn. At the Invitational, they finished 6th out of 30 teams. The Girls lost to Shephard Hill 31-24, but boasted the top finisher, Olivia Guckian. Guckian’s 10th place at Saturday’s Invitational helped the Titans finish 10th out of 25 Girls teams.
Girls Soccer added another tie and win to their record last week, improving it to 2-0-4. The 1-1 draw was with Westborough followed by 2-1 over Hopkinton.
Boys Golf continued to have a strong showing. They did lose to Westborough, but only by one stroke (192-191).
Girls Volleyball started the with a 0-3 loss to Westborough. But they turned things around later in the week with back-to-back 3-0 wins over Framingham and Leominster. They currently stand at 4-3.
Field Hockey is now at 3-4 after beating Marlborough 5-2 and Auburn 4-0, but losing 4-1 to Nashoba.
Boys Soccer stretched then broke their six game losing streak. Westborough beat them 2-1, but the Titans tied Wachusett 0-0.
On Friday night Titans Football was shutout 0-46 by Catholic Memorial. The Boys went into a tough game with two of their critical players out of commission due to injuries the prior week. Following the loss, the team tweeted “The boys fought hard against the No. 1 team in the state, and didn’t quit playing until the last whistle.”
