Town of Southborough
- Department of Public Works Superintendent (full-time)
The Town of Southborough is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the full-time position of DPW Superintendent. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and administering the services and operation of the town’s Department of Public Works, including public infrastructure, equipment, vehicle maintenance, engineering, public shade trees, public roads, solid waste transfer station, water, snow and ice removal, the operation of town cemeteries, departmental grant administration and the planning and execution of major capital projects. This key leadership position is appointed by the Select Board and reports to the Town Administrator. The DPW has an FY23 operating budget of $2,540,902 and a staff of fifteen employees (13 union and 2 non-union/administrative). Southborough is an MWRA community for water, which operates under an Enterprise Fund. We seek a professional dedicated to communication and staff development who possesses strong project management skills, knowledge of procurement regulations, comprehension of applicable municipal finance and demonstration of collaboration across the organization and community.
Applicants shall possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in civil engineering or related field; a minimum of 7-10 years progressively responsible experience in municipal public works construction, maintenance of equipment, and engineering; including five (5) years in a supervisory/management capacity; or an equivalent combination of similar education and experience. Certification as Licensed Professional Engineer is strongly preferred. Qualified candidates will be available during off hours to attend meetings and to make decisions relative to emergency situations or oversee situation through qualified designated operations managers.
