Algonquin Boys Ice Hockey is in the midst of another 4-school battle for a cup.
The 22nd annual Metrowest Daily New Cup pits Algonquin against Hopkinton, Hudson, and reigning champs Marlborough.
In the first round last night, (Marlborough beat Hudson and Gonk bested Hopkinton (6-2). This Wednesday, the Titans will hope for a better outcome than when they faced off against Marlborough in last year’s Final. (The last time Algonquin took home the cup was 2018.)

The Titans catch fire on offense with junior Jack Gulachenski netting a hat trick as Algonquin moves on to face Marlborough in the Daily News Cup finals on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Also competing in tournaments this week are Girls Ice Hockey, Wrestling, Girls Basketball, and Boys & Girls Indoor Track. For Track, the Titans cancelled participating in today’s Boston Holiday Classic, but they are still scheduled to run in tomorrow’s Mass State Track Coaches Association’s Distance Classic.
Girls Hockey beat Longmeadow 5-4 and Arlington Catholic 6-0 last week. They now stand at 2-0-1.
Last week, Boys Basketball lost to St. John’s 52-50 then beat North Middlesex 67-62. The Girls lost to Wayland 45-37. Both teams now stand at 1-3
Boys Swimming broke its 4-meet winning streak at AMSA on Thursday. For the Girls team, it was their 5th straight loss.
