I already shared news of the Crafternoon coming up in a couple of weeks at the Southborough Library. The registration links have now been posted for the following four sessions.
Since these tend to fill up, I’m sharing the news for readers to get a jump on signing kids up.
The Library is bringing back crafter Mandy Roberge to lead more specialized sessions for ages 8+ in 2023. Each will take place on a Wednesday (mid-month) from 4:00 – 5:00 pm.
Below are the dates and descriptions. To sign up, click here.
Suncatchers — January 18
It’s cold and dark out so let’s bring in the light! Using beads, glass tiles, wires, and prisms create a unique suncatcher to hang in a sunny window in your house.
Picture Frame Decorating — February 15
Work with a variety of materials — including paint pens, sequins, beads and washi tape — to make a unique photo frame. We can even print your photo on the spot so you can complete the project as a gift or keepsake.
Fancy Dish Towels — March 15
Add a personal touch to your home kitchen with a hand decorated tea towel. Using embroidery techniques, fabric markers/paints and stencils and iron-on designs, this one-of-a-kind dishtowel will be a functional work of art.
(This program is made possible through grant funding of the Library Services & Technology Act distributed by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.)
Sew a Bookbag — April 12
Make a one-of-a-kind book bag using pre-cut fabric pieces and simple sewing techniques. Participants must have basic sewing skills and MUST be able to thread a needle independently and execute a basic running stitch.
Macrame Keychains — May 17
Learn to braid, bead and hitch in this macrame workshop that uses twine, embroidery floss and hemp to help participants create 3 unique keychains and/or friendship bracelets.
As with all of the Library’s Crafternoons, participation is free, but registration is required. (Be sure to do that soon. I often miss the chance to share news on these popular events since registration tends to fill up quickly.)
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18th from 4:00 – 5:00 pm.
