Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend through next weekend — which is spring break for Southborough and Northborough public schools.

Saturday, April 15, 2023
- Books in Bloom Exhibit (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library main level: The last day of the Southborough Gardeners exhibit of flower arrangements inspired by book covers. No registration required to visit. (Some of the exhibits may be picked up before the end of the day.) For details, see dedicated post.
- Read to a Dog (11:00 – 11:45 am) @ Southborough Library: Program preferably for kids ages 5 and up with some reading ability. Each month, children can sign up to read a short book to a certified therapy dog. Register at the Children’s Room desk or by contacting kivers@southboroughma.com or 508-485-5031.
- Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00pm) @ Southborough Library: Biweekly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.

- Kid’s Church Movie Day (10:00 – 11:00 am) @ Pilgrim Church: Part of the congregational church’s Sunday School celebration of earth day. This session, they will watch a movie about how kids contribute to protecting the earth. For details, see dedicated post.
- Yoga for grieving mothers (4:00 -5:30 pm) @ Theracopia Therapeautic Wellness Center: 54 Central Street: Free yoga, deep meditation and Reiki healing offered to mothers who have lost a child and their families For details, see dedicated post.

- Town Facilities closed: The Southborough Library, Senior Center, and Town offices are closed for the state holiday.
- Junior Farmer For A Day (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Give your child the experience of being a junior farmer! Help care for farm animals, learn about farm-fresh food, hike the trails, create natural crafts, and explore the farm from the eyes of its most important team member: the farmer! - Junior Farmer For A Day (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Give your child the experience of being a junior farmer! Help care for farm animals, learn about farm-fresh food, hike the trails, create natural crafts, and explore the farm from the eyes of its most important team member: the farmer! - Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
- Virtual Dim Sum for Beginners (5:30 – 7:00 pm) @ zoom: The cooking class is part of the Southborough Library’s free virtual cooking series. Pre-registration is required, and registered participants will receive a shopping list in advance to prepare for the class. For details, see related post.
- Drop-In Art (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Room: Art program geared to ages 5 and up, no registration required. Led by Lanting Huang-Truong from Southborough’s Bigelow Arts. This session she will teach participants how tomake butterfly and bee pictures using watercolor and drawing techniques. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library..
- Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

- Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
- Music with Tom Knight (3:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library main floor: Join musician Tom Knight for stories, puppets, and music, including “The Library Boogie”! All welcome and no registration is required.
- Southborough Rotary Club (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Southborough. New and prospective members are always welcome. (Held on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month.)

- Senior Conference (8:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School: The regional conference for seniors in State Senator Eldridge’s district includes a free breakfast and lunch, info, entertainment and educational workshops. For details, see dedicated post.
- Mah Jongg (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The weekly program would love new players to join. Feel free to stop by to watch or talk to one of the players to see if you would be interested. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
- Preschool Farm Explorers (10:00 – 11:00 am) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: For ages 2 years 9 months to 5 years old, Adult supervision required (discount for younger siblings and siblings under 1 yr old can attend for free) Your little farm explorers will become fully immersed in what life is like here at Chestnut Hill. - Animal Adventures (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Main Floor: A zookeeper from Animal Adventures will bring 8-10 animals to the library. Children will get to learn about and pet these animals. All ages welcome and no registration required. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library.
- Learn to Play Chess (5:00 – 6:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor stacks: Learn to play chess with high school expert Luca! (Meet ups will occur biweekly.)
- Genealogy Club (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Monthly informal group meeting to learn and share tips about resources for researching family history. Free and open to the public. Bring your laptop, log into Ancestry.com and join in.

- Earth Day Forest Bathing (10:00 – 11:30 am) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: A slow, mindful walk. “Using present moment awareness, deep breathing and conscious movement, our Mindful Outdoor Guide will invite participants to awaken their senses and receive the healing power of the forest.”. - Hike with Goats (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: Your reservation gets you and your group of family or friends an hour-long experience with a friendly goat on its own harness and leash. You will first learn how to walk with the goat, and then you’ll be accompanied by a farm staff member as you and your new goat friend make your way around the farm and its trails. - Kid’s Church Dirt Day (10:00 – 11:00 am) @ Pilgrim Church: Part of the congregational church’s Sunday School celebration of earth day. This session, they will fill our new raised gardening bed with soil in anticipation of planting seeds. Kids should wear clothes that can get dirty. For details, see dedicated post.
- Postponed to April 29th — Outdoor Earth Day Concert (12:00 – 1:00 pm) @ Southborough Library lawn: Earth Day Celebration Concert Featuring Folk Singer Claire Dacey. Bring chairs or blankets. This event is part of Southborough’s Planet Palooza celebration. For details, see related post.
- Postponed to April 29th — Garden Talk & Tour (1:00 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Library lawn: The Open Space Preservation Commission will use the Pollination Preservation Garden on the Library’s grounds to describe native plants chosen for both ecological benefit and beauty and go over next steps, and volunteer opportunities. - Cutler Jazz Festival (6:30 pm) @ where: St. Mark’s School’s annual spring jazz festival featuring a professional guest performer, the school’s jazz band, and a guest band. It is free and open to the public. For details, see dedicated post.
