The biggest news out of Algonquin Athletics this week is the honoring of former athletes and the pitching of investment in future athletes.
Tonight, Northborough supporters of Algonquin athletics are encouraged to turn out for Northborough’s Annual Town Meeting. The Warrant includes Algonquin’s funding authorization request for the big GonkPlex project to improve the outdoor fields and facilities. (Southborough voters authorized the borrowing last month, but it requires approval by both towns.)
Over the weekend, Algonquin held a ceremony to induct the latest members of the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame.

As for current Algonquin teams’ performances since last week’s post. . .
Girls Lacrosse’s undefeated record was broken on Saturday by Leominster. The ARHS Girls lost 19-9. Earlier in the week, they beat Hopkinton 18-10. Their record is now 7-1.
Boys Lacrosse improved to 6-1 after two more wins last week — 15-6 over Hopkinton and 17-3 over Medway.
Boys Volleyball improved to 2-4 after its second straight win. They beat Doherty 3-0 on Wednesday.
On Friday, the Telegram reported that Algonquin’s Boys Outdoor Track Team’s Coach Andy Boschetto described the team as “one of the deepest and most talented he has had during his 28 years at the helm.” You can read about that here.
Two days prior, the team competed against Worcester Tech. No score was posted but you can see the detailed results for Algonquin’s participating athletes here.
It was another tough week for two Gonk teams. Baseball suffered two more losses — 7-1 to St John’s and 15-9 to Milford. That brought down their record to 3-5.
Softball has yet to win a game this season. Last week’s losses were 15-1 to Hopedale and 14-1 to AMSA.
