Resident charged for allegedly showing pornographic video to minors

The Southborough Police Department issued a press release covering the arrest of an “elderly male” resident accused of having shown minors a pornographic video on his phone at a downtown restaurant.

The release states:

On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at approx. 1938 hrs, Southborough Police Department investigated a report of an elderly male showing pornographic images/video to two juveniles at a restaurant on Main Street in Southborough. The juveniles reported to police that the male party approached them; tried to engage them in a conversation; and then proceeded to show them a pornographic video on his cell phone. The juveniles left the restaurant and reported the incident to an adult, who ultimately contacted the Southborough Police Department.

After further investigation, [a resident] of Main Street, Southborough, was arrested and charged with two counts of Dissemination of Matter Harmful to Minors. [The accused] was placed into custody and brought to Westborough District Court on Wednesday, May 31st.

The accused is a former member of the Select Board who ran again for the office (unsuccessfully) this spring.

[Editor’s Note: My general policy is that I redact the names of people arrested on the blog, to avoid them coming up in internet searches. (Accused doesn’t necessarily equal guilty and I’m unlikely to hear if charges are dropped, etc.) They are usually still made available for those interested through a direct link to the SPD’s press release or a related article.

Since the accused is an active participant in Town politics, not mentioning that would be ignoring the elephant in the room, but I’m still leaving out his name for now. You can find the release here.]

Updated (6/2/23 4:59 pm): Since the accused has chosen to publicly comment on the blog (claiming the incident was an “innocent mistake”, I am updating to clarify that the arrested man was David Parry.
