There are two Algonquin teams still trying to earn state titles. Boys Rugby has good odds, while the other is a longshot. Boys Lacrosse will try to overcome their odds in tonight’s Sweet 16.
Algonquin’s Boys Lacrosse program does appear to be on the rise. In 2021, the team lost out in the First Round of the Central/West Division 2 playoffs. Under the revamped MIAA state brackets last year, the 19th seed team fell out at the Division 1 Round of 32, losing to Lexington.
In yesterday’s Round of 32, the 12th seed Titans bested 21st seed Bridgwater-Raynhame 13-4. You can read the highlights from that game in the Community Advocate:

Now, they’re pitted against 5th seed Hingham for the Round of 16. That game is scheduled for 6:00 pm tonight (Wednesday, June 7th) at Hingham.
Hingham ended the ARHS Girls Lacrosse post-season journey on Monday. The Titans lost 8-11. Boys Baseball also fell out of the playoffs, losing 3-4 to 5th seed Xaverian. The teams tweeted thanks to their departing senior team members:
As I previously posted, Gonk Rugby is slated to play Catholic Memorial in the Division 2 Semi Finals 5:00 pm tomorrow (Thursday, June 8th) at Westborough High. The top seed Titans are definitely the favorites, having recently beaten their #4 opponents 38-27.
In other ARHS sports news, the school announced this week that digging has begun for their big outdoor complex renovations — the GonkPlex. Below is a pic from the school followed by ones taken by Cass Melo showing work underway at the Tennis courts:
