The Rotary Club of Southborough Rotary has continued its good works this spring. I’m sharing their update on what they’ve been up to recently.
A blogpost from President Maryann Beauvais touts the following accomplishments in May. (I’ve inserted relevant photos that they posted on their Facebook page):
[Editor’s Note: For readers unfamiliar, Rotary was soliciting donated handbags as part of an effort to support unsheltered or homeless mothers. (You can read about that here.)]
- Such a fascinating topic about chemical endocrine disruptors with Dr. Laura Vandenberg! Thank you for coming – there are chemicals everywhere! Most good, some not so bad, and others are totally not worth it. Yes, water is chemical molecule.
- New England Center for Children 5k run was a blast with such good weather. Definitely check it out next year to run for such an important cause! Carl, Gene, Will, Christine – you all are wonderful for attending!
- Trottier Middle School Talent Show – such talent that graced the stage. We had fun pulling together the program, the tickets, and the concession snacks. Lina, Will, Carl, Dave, Janine, and Anu came through with all this work – it truly takes a small and mighty team. A big thank you to Rachel, Katie, and Gary for all the coordination. Most of all, thank you to the students that participated – you all rock!
- The very next day after the talent show, we had Rotary Day of Service! What a morning with Kathryn and Freddie in our native pollinator meadow garden at Beals Preserve – definitely learned a lot and had a peaceful morning. We’ll have to coordinate another time and day to do this again – thanks to Janine, Anu, Christine, Will, and Carl for coming out. I can’t believe how much calmness and joy those moments gave me.
- The following Monday was our Algonquin High School Scholarship Night. Thank you to all the applicants for our Rotary Club of Southborough Annie Laurie Satterfield Scholarship; all of the applications were wonderful and thoughtful. Congratulations to Patrick Hanlon! Your international lens in your persistence learning German and obtaining a bilingual certificate of fluency as well as your direction in structural and environmental engineering is absolutely impressive. The club is incredibly proud of your achievements. May the years at UMass Amherst be filled with fun-filled adventurous challenges and life-long friends!
Beauvais also promoted the kickoff of the Food Truck Festival. That weekly, Wednesday afternoon to evening event will wrap up this coming Wednesday, June 14th. You can find details here.
