Paul D. Kirk, 60, of Southborough died suddenly Monday, August 7, 2023, at his summer home in West Harwich.
He was the son of the late Paul T. and Jean (Fay) Kirk and was the husband of Marla (Hurwitz) Kirk, to whom he’d been married to the past 30 years.
Paul loved his family immensely. Such a proud father he would brag to anyone about Brian, Samantha, and Jeannie’s accomplishments. His wife Marla was his best friend.
Anyone who knew Paul knew how generous he was with his time and support. He spent many years at the baseball fields with his son and his friends. He coached the boys from little league through middle school, and he was so proud of his role in starting Trottier Middle School’s first baseball team.
After 25 years working for the same company Paul was able to start his own business with a partner. While creating a successful company he was able to help several young families grow and prosper. His “work” families were so very important to him. His biggest concern contemplating retirement was how those families would be affected.
Paul had an incredible sense of humor – he was a real joker. From hiding canned goods around the house to leaving a smiling doll head on somebody’s desk, he was always up to something.
He was getting ready to begin the next chapter of his life planning retirement on the Cape with Marla. He loved golfing at Cranberry Valley and was so close to breaking 80. He began gardening in the last few years and even though he didn’t eat many vegetables, he loved to give them away to his friends and neighbors.
He will be so sorely missed by all.
Besides his wife, Paul is survived by his three children, Brian Kirk of Boston, Samantha Kirk of New Hampshire, and Jeannie Kirk of Southborough, his brothers, Kenneth Kirk and his wife Lorraine of Shrewsbury and Steven Kirk and his wife Maria of East Boston.
Visiting hours for Paul will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 5:00-7:00pm at the Morris-Johnston Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough, MA 01772. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 10:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Zepherin’s Cemetery, Bent Ave., Wayland, MA 01778.
Paul was a dedicated family man, a gregarious personality, and a generous friend to all who knew him. I will remember and be grateful for his frendship, mentorship, and great example to follow. Marla, Brian, Samantha and Jeannie can all be rightfully proud of Paul’s legacy.
