A program that was recently cancelled due to illness has been rescheduled for this week — and the age group expanded.

Parents with children ages 4-9 years old are invited to join Chestnut Hill Farm at the Southborough Library this Thursday. Workshop participants will learn to make their own pickles without using heat.

This time, the event is a drop-in activity with no registration required:

Enjoy an afternoon making pickles with your child! In this program, you and your child will work together to chop, assemble, and season fresh refrigerator pickles. No heat is needed in this quick-pickling method, and you’ll receive a recipe to replicate at home. You and your child will take home a custom-designed jar of tangy, tasty treats for your home refrigerator.

The session will take place on the Library’s main floor from 5:00 – 6:00 pm on September 28th.

The Library also just announced that another pickling program for all ages will take place on Friday. Stay tuned for that post.

The special event is part of the Library’s continuing food/cooking series made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, distributed by the Mass Board of Library Commissioners.

Updated (9/26/23 9:01 am): I initially missed that the age group was expanded. And I learned about Friday’s pickling program.
