A week from Saturday, the Southborough Golf Club will host its 5th annual fundraiser for ALS ONE. The fundraiser will take place from Saturday, October 7 through Monday, October 9.
To make sure you get a chance to take part, you may want to book your tee times in advance.
This year, the club will donate $10 from each player’s greens fees to ALS One.
In a comment on this blog, one of the organizers, former Select Board member Brian Shea, promoted:
Southborough Golf Club and ALS One are again teaming up with our Town for the annual Heritage Day weekend event to remember our friends Brian Shifrin and John Wilson. . .
With the wet summer, the grass is green and the course has never been in better condition, so take some time Heritage Day weekend to enjoy our local resource and support a great cause. What started four years ago as a weekend event to promote the course and showcase its re-construction as part of the Public Safety project has certainly come a long way! Brian and John both played key roles in making sure golf continued at the course following the Town’s acquisition of the property and this is a great way to remember them, and their contributions to our community.
Anyone who can’t attend, or would like to give extra, can make a donation here.
To book your time, use the club’s online reservations here or call 508-460-0946. For more information on Southborough’s 9 hole course, click here.
Special thanks to ALS One and the Town’s golf course management company, New England Golf Corp. for once again coming together to make this possible.
You can read more about Wilson’s and Shifrin’s roles in relation to the golf course in my 2019 post announcing the 1st annual fundraiser.
The non-profit ALS ONE describes itself as:
an unprecedented partnership of world leaders in ALS research and care who have joined forces to help cut bureaucratic red tape to combat the disease more efficiently and effectively for all.
