This morning, the Town posted an announcement that Newton Street pavement will be milled today, and possibly tomorrow:
Work will begin on Newton Street on Monday, October 2, 2023. As such, please make a point to park vehicles well away from the edge of the road. The work will consist of milling the road width for nearly the entire length and is expected to take 1 – 2 days to complete the milling operation. Detours and police details will be in place. The road will be open to local traffic and businesses. Please drive cautiously. Thank you.
The DPW’s Facebook post on Friday added:
The road will be open to local traffic (and businesses). Upon completion of milling, structures (catch basins, drainage manholes, valve boxes) will be raised 1.5”. Please drive cautiously around the raised structures – they will be painted with High Viz Paint. After Structures are raised, the Contractor (Newport Construction) will pave the road and the driveway aprons requiring grading.
We appreciate your patience during this process, but if you find you have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the DPW and speak with William Cundiff, DPW Superintendent.
