Car dumped into the DPW trash hopper

I missed the big news in town yesterday afternoon posted on social media by Town public safety departments. But local media quickly picked it up and ran with it.

A car somehow ended up in the Southborough Transfer Station hopper (the big pit for dumping trash). The female driver (and car) were rescued. She was reported to have only suffered minor injuries.

On Thursday afternoon, the Town tweeted news at 2:03 pm that the Transfer Station was temporarily closed. By 3:29 pm, it reopened.

In between, the Southborough Fire Department posted on Facebook:

Serious injuries were avoided today when a vehicle inadvertently drove into the compactor at the town’s transfer station. Crews were able to gain access and assist the driver out of the vehicle. The driver was then transported to the hospital with only minor injuries.

A few minutes later the Southborough Police Department posted:

SPD and SFD responded to the DPW to assist with a vehicle that was driven into the trash “pit”. The driver was unhurt and Ted’s Towing was contacted to assist with removing the vehicle.
SPD will be investigating the accident.

Here are cropped versions of the photos they posted with the messages:

We have a former police chief who gets let go for doing something obviously bad and our town officials cover it up. Then you have a elderly woman who has an unfortunate accident, who is probably very embarrassed already, and you see the video footage release by town officials on the TV news the next day. Some pretty strange values.
