Elizabeth (Cartwright) Soderholm, of Needham formerly of Southborough passed away on Oct 25, 2023. She was 95.
Betty was born and raised in Chicago, IL and was a graduate of Mundelein College. She resided in Southborough for over 30 years before moving to Needham. She worked for the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind for 20 years. She was a member of Bay State Council of the Blind and had been named “Person of the Year” by them for her advocacy for public transportation. She was also a member of the Needham League of Women Voters and had a passion for traveling.
Betty was the devoted wife of the late Lars G. Soderholm and loving mother of Elin Soderholm of Needham and Robert Soderholm and his wife Diane of Wellesley. Dear “Grandma” of Kristin Soderholm. Sister of Helen (Cartwright) Clancy and her husband Tom of Oak Lawn, IL, and the late Mary Jane Byerly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Monday Oct 30 from 9 to 9:45 AM followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Southborough Rural Cemetery, Southborough.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to Bay State Council of the Blind Inc or Friends of the Center at the Heights, Inc would be appreciated.
