Algonquin Girls Soccer beat Tantasqua 1-0 in the Semi Finals on Saturday. Now the 2nd seed Gonk Girls will play 4th seed Shrewsbury in the Class A Central Mass Finals.
It should be a nail biter. The teams tied 1-1 both times they faced off earlier this fall.
The game is scheduled for Wednesday, November 1st, 7:00 pm at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School.
ARHS Girls Volleyball went up against top seed Shrewsbury in their CMass Finals vs on Saturday. The Titans won the first two matches, but the Colonials rebounded to cinch the final three.
Now the girls will turn their attention to the MIAA Division 2 state tourney. The team moved up to 2nd place in rankings posted Friday. Final rankings and brackets will be released later today. (Stay tuned for an update later this week.)
Both the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams won another title over the weekend. This time it was MidWach A League Champions. ARHS Athletics tweeted:
Girls scored 30 points and placed 4 runners in the Top 7. Boys had 22 points and placed 6 runners in the Top 8. Proud of both teams on great performances today!
You can read the Telegram’s coverage of their accomplishments here. The runners will get a little bit of a break this week. The District Championships aren’t until November 11th.
Speaking of the Telegram’s coverage, I discovered an article posted earlier last week that clears up my confusion over ARHS Field Hockey’s results in the CMADA tourney. It turns out that despite the tied Quarter Finals score listed on the Telegram’s results page, the team actually lost to Nashoba in double overtime.
So, why did they list it as a tie? I assume that’s based on tracking the standings based on MIAA rules. (The brackets for that tourney will be released tomorrow.)
As of Friday, ARHS Field Hockey is ranked #7 in MIAA Division 1. To help prepare for the tourney, this afternoon at 4:45 pm, they’ll scrimmage with Hopkinton — a D2 team.
The MIAA Football brackets were released yesterday. It’s no surprise that the Titans didn’t make the playoffs. The team lost its 7th of 8 games on Friday, 25-8 against Leominster.
This Friday, November 3rd at 6:00 pm, they’ll travel to compete in a non-playoff game vs Tantasqua.
This week, the team’s Cheerleaders will be focusing on preparing for their big competition. The team didn’t place at the Shephard Hill Invitational yesterday. But they still have a chance at the MidWach League Championship in Marlborough this Sunday. The schedule isn’t posted, but the event begins at noon.
