I have a reminder – and some new details – on this Saturday’s “Scouting for Food” collection drive.
Last weekend, Southborough Boy, Cub, and Girl Scouts hung grocery bags with flyers on doorknobs around town. The flyers encouraged residents to fill the bags and put them out the morning of this Saturday, November 11th by 9:00 am. Scouts will come back around to pick up donations to deliver them to Pilgrim Church so they can be sorted that afternoon.
However, there may be some homes in town that volunteers weren’t able to get to. If you want to participate and didn’t get a bag, there are two options:
You can Fill a bag with donations and drop it off directly at the Pilgrim Church this Saturday (November 11th) between 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm.*
Or
You can contact organizers by this Friday, November 10th to request that a volunteer swing by and pick up your bag on Saturday morning. (Email SFFsouthborough@gmail.com.)
As for what you can donate. . .
Unlike recent, restricted calls for donations, the flyer right shows the Food Pantry’s list of frequently needed items, but also encourages “all donations are greatly appreciated”. (As long as they aren’t expired! Don’t forget to check the dates.)
Scout families involved in helping the drive should drop off/bring in their collected goods to Pilgrim Church between 12:00 – 2:00 pm.
*(Sorting will begin later than usual to allow Scouts and volunteers to attend the annual Veteran’s Day ceremony that begins at 11:00 am at the All Wars Memorial.)
