The Southborough Police will again be part of a special annual holiday program run by the Framingham Police Department. They are encouraging families in need to apply to join them.
The program allows financially qualified children ages 5-16 (in grades K-12), to “Shop-With-A-Cop”. Kids are paired with officers and given a “predetermined amount” to spend.
It’s the SFD’s 8th annual event. The SPD has been participating since 2021.
Applications are due by December 13th to participate this year.
The registration page notes that families must be part of the participating communities – and to check with your local police department if they aren’t listed. Southborough isn’t listed, but Chief Ryan Newell (and the SPD Facebook page) confirm that we are a participating community. They encourage:
If you know of any families in Southborough that may be struggling, please forward on the link to the application. If approved, on the day of the event they will be paired with a Southborough Officer who will assist them with their shopping!
The event page states that this year’s event will take place at scheduled times on Tuesday December 19th at the Framingham Walmart, and a parent/guardian must accompany the child.
Participation is limited, so only those who receive confirmation that they have been accepted (with a scheduled time) should attend.
