This week, I posted that the Zoning Board of Appeals would be opening its hearing on the 40B residential housing project proposed for 250 Turnpike Road. I was wrong.
The Building Department reached out to inform me that the hearing is for an unrelated Special Permit for a commercial use at the address.
I apologize for causing confusion. Having heard that MassHousing issued a project eligibility letter for the project proposed at the site, I jumped to the wrong conclusion when I saw the hearing notice and didn’t pay enough attention to the wording.
Ferris Development hasn’t yet filed for a Comprehensive Permit. (At least, not as of this morning.)
What they did apply for was a second use at the property to allow for a Contractor Yard Building to coexist with the self-storage building on the section of the parcel abutting route 9, “lot A”. That is a purpose the owner has already been in hearings with the Conservation Commission about. It is not related to the residential project they have proposed for the section behind it, “lot B”.
The permit states:
By adding a 14,400 square foot contractors’ yard building, FD 250 Turnpike seeks to address a clear market need – midsize, accessible spaces for tradespeople and contractors. The building will be divided into 10 bays of equal size (1,440 sq. ft.), and each bay will have a roll up door and a walk-in door
You can read the application packet to be addressed in the December 20th hearing here.
Hearings for the Comprehensive Permit for a 40B at 120 Turnpike Road (and a related Special Permit), will open on December 13th. You can read more about that in my prior post.
