Last year, a Southborough family on Parkerville Road made headlines for its Christmas Lights display featuring over 100,000 lights, including a drive through tunnel. This year, the display is one of three finalists for a tv station’s “Battle of the Holiday Lights”.

Yesterday morning, Boston 25 News’ website promoted:

It’s time to cast your vote – in the Boston 25 Battle of the Holiday Lights contest!

We got amazing entries but these three finalists stood out from the rest.

They pulled out all the stops with lights, music, and some holiday magic.

The winner will receive one thousand dollars – and will be featured live on Boston 25 News with a visit from Chief Meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz.

Check out the finalists below and cast your vote!

The page features a short video of each of the three submissions. Southborough’s had no audio when I played it this morning.) The other two finalists are in Billerica and Lancaster.

The cover image indicates the deadline for voting is this Sunday, December 17th.

According to the forecast, tonight and tomorrow night will be all clear for checking out the display in real life.

Southborough’s display is put up by the Phaneuf family at their 150 Parkerville Road home. An article in the Metrowest Daily News last year shared that Adam Phaneuf “has been working on the Christmas lights for 15 years, adding something new each year. The lights take 80 man hours to put up each year, with the first flip of the switch on Thanksgiving night.”

If you do head out to check out the lights, you may want to know where else in town there are lights worth seeing.

The website Community Kangaroo posted a map with light displays worth driving to in the region. They are asking the public to help them update it for this year.

In addition to the Parkerville Road display, they have a confirmed an address on Oregon Road is lit up for this year. Other markers in Southborough show locations readers highlighted in 2022 and 2021 that also may be worth driving by. (Based on a photo posted to Facebook, it appears that the spot on Wyndemere Drive is lit up again this year.)

Updated (12/21/23 1:19 pm): Ultimately, Channel 25 announced Billerica as the winner.
