There will be a 2 hour delay for Southborough public schools and Algonquin Regional High School today.*
Of course, this means that morning preschool is cancelled and the Senior Center will be closed.
In the past, Superintendent Gregory Martineau posted information about the school’s process for determining when to delay or cancel school. His message noted:
While our goal is to remain in session, the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. . . Like weather forecasting, the school-closing decision process is not a perfect science.
You can read the FAQs on how and when the decision is made here.
*(I didn’t get an early morning phone call today. Just a text while I was sleeping! I wonder if that happened to anyone else.)
Updated (1/17/23 9:07 am): After confirming I wasn’t the only one to not get a call, I contacted Superintendent Martineau, who said he would look into what happened. In yesterday’s weekly newsletter from the Superintendent, he wrote:
After last week’s two-hour delay, I received a few inquiries from parents asking why they had not received a notification. After reviewing the alert, I realized I did not click the link ‘send message text and voice.’ As a result, most people only received a text message. I apologize and will be sure to send the message via text and voice in future notifications.
