Three Southborough artists have exhibits/performances worth sharing news on. I’m rounding up announcements/coverage of two library exhibitions currently running and an upcoming local “debut” by a resident writer-actor.

“Southborough artist Dustin Neece exhibit ‘The Spirit of Nature’ at Ashland Public Library”— MetroWest Daily News

The local paper posted photos from resident Dustin Neece’s oil painting exhibit at the Ashland Library.

According to the captions, the exhibit runs through February 27th. A reception will be held on the evening of Thursday, February 22nd. (Though the library’s Facebook post says 5:30 – 7:30 pm, the artist has promoted it as from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.)

According to Neece’s website, he is selling both the 19 paintings on display and prints of the images. You can learn more about the paintings here.

Rajani Kumari art on exhibit at Southborough Library — Facebook

Ashland isn’t the only library showcasing works by a Southborough artist. The Southborough Library is exhibiting art by resident Rajani Kumari through May. Pieces include drawings and mixed media works.

On Facebook, the Library posted:

Rajani Kumari at Southborough Library exhibit - photo from FacebookThe Southborough Library is honored and humbled to display the work of local artist Rajani Kumari, a Southborough resident who is a first time art exhibitor. Rajani [pictured here] will have her work on display in the Main Floor Stacks area through May 2024. . . we are glad this exhibit went up a few weeks prior to hosting the Southborough Cultural Arts Council grant award reception on Thursday, February 15th at 7:00 PM. Her work is a wonderful addition to the library’s aesthetics and provides a visual appeal to the space. Please mark your calendars for the SCAC event – and visit the library soon to view Rajani’s art!

You can see more photos of her works in the Facebook post here.  You can find more on the artist and her work here. (For more on the SCAC event, click here.)

“Southborough Writer & Actor, Karin Trachtenberg, Debuts her new play”— Press Release

My Mother Had Two Faces (contributed image)In December, Southborough’s Karin Trachtenberg premiered her play “My Mother Had Two Faces: Reflections on Beauty, Aging and Acceptance” in LA.  This spring, she’s headed to Off-Broadway. In betweeen, she will debut the one-woman show closer to home.

Tickets are on sale for Sunday, March 3rd at 2:00pm, at The Rockwell (255 Elm Street in Somerville, MA). According to a PR email:

Coming off a successful world premiere in Los Angeles, Boston is the second stop on the production’s world tour before heading Off-Broadway for The United Solo Festival on March 14th and then onto the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. Written and performed by Karin Trachtenberg and directed by Jessica Lynn Johnson, this autobiographical one-woman dramatic comedy dares to expose what lies beneath the mask of the perfect mother.

A humorous and moving journey of self-reflection, this show is sure to resonate with anyone struggling with a conflicted parental relationship. Presented in a pseudo-fairytale style, utilizing multimedia and theatrical masks, My Mother Had Two Faces tips the Disney delusion on its head revealing the enchanting as well as the underbelly.

For more details, read the full press release, here. You can also check out Trachtenberg’s website here.
