Algonquin performed impressively at Mid-Wach League Championships for Track and Swim last week. Those are just some of the past week’s highlights.
Both Indoor Track teams won the Mid-Wach A competition. The Boys and Girls teams each won 6 out of the 12 events at the tournament, and had plenty of second/third place finishes to boot. (You can view full results here.)
Boys Swimming also won their Swim Championships, aided by two first place finishes. Girls Swimming won one race and placed third overall as a team. You can read more details in the Telegram’s coverage here.
Gymnastics had another good week. On Tuesday’s Senior night, the team beat Westborough 137.9 – 132.55. That was followed by winning a tri-meet on Friday (137.65) over Groton-Dunstable (135.35) and Shrewsbury (130.1)
Boys Ice Hockey racked up one more wins last week, beating Marlborough 5-2. That improves their record to 8-4-3. (Their #17 rank for Division 2 pre-dates the latest win.)
Girls Ice Hockey lost to Lincoln-Sudbury last Monday (1-0) but beat Bishop Feehan on Saturday (4-3). They are currently ranked #12 for D2. (By the time this story posts tonight, the girls game vs. Longmeadow may be over, but I don’t have those results yet.)
Boys Basketball is having a much tougher season. They lost their 10th game out of 14 so far this season to Leominster 62-45. They are now ranked #46 for Division 1
Girls Basketball also lost to Leominster on Friday, 49-35, but scored a 56-41 win over Grafton earlier in the week. They are ranked #36 for D-1.
No results were available for last week’s Wrestling and Ski competitions.
