The “Super Tuesday” Presidential Primary is just a month from today. The Town Clerk asked me to share important information on registration, voting by mail, and early voting options.
The details below include that the deadline to register to vote (or update your information) is in less than three weeks, on February 24th. (That’s also the date that early voting in-person begins.)
It’s worth noting that voters registered as “unenrolled” in a party can vote in whichever party’s primary they prefer. But if you are enrolled in one of the three official parties* — Democratic, Liberterian, or Republican — that’s the only primary you will be able to vote in.
That may mean that some voters will want to change their party status by the deadline if the candidate they are looking to support is on a different ballot. (You can check your party status using the same link as to change your registration details.)
Voters who already requested mail-in ballots will be getting those soon and can start voting. If you need a mail-in ballot and didn’t submit a request yet, you can still request one up to February 27th. (Of course, waiting that long could make getting and returning it dicey. So, it’s better to act sooner.)
While I’m sharing this news, I also want to point out that this election’s timing overlaps the window for filing to run in Southborough’s Town election this spring. Nomination papers will be available February 14th through March 22nd and must be completed (with necessary voter signatures) and returned by March 26th. (Stay tuned for more details on what seats are up for election this year.)

*Note: There are “political designations” that you can be enrolled under, like the Green-Rainbow Party, which aren’t currently recognized by the state as an official party. Those voters are treated as unenrolled in a party, so also free to vote in any party’s primary.
